How Are You? Olfactory Scent Artwork & Of Scent and Song Online Event
Commissioned by Bealtaine Festival, Age & Opportunity 2021

How Are You? is a new scent artwork by acclaimed visual artist and vocalist Ceara Conway designed in collaboration with olfactory artist Erin Quinn. How Are You? was created in response to Viriditas*, a recent album of contemporary and traditional healing songs by Ceara Conway, originally commissioned by Galway University Hospitals & Saolta University Health Care Group for Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture.

Each  sensory artwork package contained a specially commissioned scent artwork, a link to Ceara’s Viriditas album and an invitation to attend this event ‘Of Scent and Song’.

As part of Bealtaine at Home 2021, Age & Opportunity in association with Family Carers Ireland,  sensory artworks were sent to over 200 family carers aged 50+ caring for older relatives at home.  The sensory artwork packages were also sent to staff members, clients and family members of Irish Hospice Foundation in counties, Galway, Dublin and Cork, also to the Uileann Arts Centre Cork, Arts and Health Programme and staff members of Aras Mhic Dara Nursing Home in Connemara, County Galway. 

Members of the public also received the artwork. 

 

Of Scent and Song - 28th May at 3pm - A fascinating live discussion on the converging worlds of music, scent, art and memory with visual artist and vocalist Ceara Conway, perfumer Erin Quinn, as well as artist, writer, scent maker and author of Nose Dive, Catherine Haley Epstein.
